As long as you get the 6ms model, you're in good shape. These do have a bit of infant mortality, but hopefully refurbs have gotten a better look-over and a bit more break-in.

Heh, lucky me--I got this unit in PVA form for about $225 at OfficeMax (used a coupon and discounted gift card from eBay), and I really like the wide viewing angle and color. The 6ms is no problem for me, as I don't game, and it's quite reasonable even if you game in terms of ghosting. I didn't even receive a SINGLE dead/stuck pixel. How cool is that? The #1 thing I don't like about this monitor has to be the stand and the tilt--it feels like you're about to snap it the first time you change the angle, and the stand feels really flimsy and the attachment to the panel itself seemed almost childish and un-elegant. The connection of the DVI cable is my second gripe. I have a (cheap) but high-quality cable with a GIANT ferrite core on both ends, and it was an extremely hard fit, and looks like of weird. If only the stand allowed for it to go through the stand and not between the monitor and solid stand...

btw, here's a tip for using this monitor:
the brightness get EXTREMELY high. turn it down to 20-30 when watching movies and pump the contrast all the way to 100. When using for daily use, set it to 60-70 for both contrast and brightness, depending on your room.

This is a great monitor and I don't regret paying $275 at office max for it. There are a couple of things you should know before buying it, however. First of all the quality control for these isn't the greatest as far as dead/stuck pixels go. Mine has a stuck pixel half an inch from the top of the screen that I've chosen to ignore, and from what I've heard they are pretty common overall. Also, about November of last year they switched production from PVA panels (found in $600 monitors) to TM panels (found in $400 monitors). Since these are refurbished it is actually probably your best shot of getting a PVA panel. You can tell a PVA panel from TM by looking at it from the top or bottom. If the colors reverse, you have a TM panel. PVA's have a very large viewing angle and better color reproduction, but a higher response time (in this case, 6 ms compared to 3 ms).
