Course Description
‘They will write stories about your victories for thousands of years,’ said the character Thetis about the Greek hero Achilles in the 2004 film ‘Troy’. And it was true – they did. But how are those stories told? And have ancient meanings been lost in modern versions?

This learning pathway explores the tools you need to analyse, interpret, and evaluate a text. You’ll discover that ‘text’ in this context can mean any cultural ‘object’, for example, plays, music, paintings, maps. The pathway begins by discussing why we analyse texts, as a means of understanding the culture which produced them.
