its not a superb deal, 3.5" screen is pretty small these days and $50 for a Garmin nowadays is not unusual.

I don't think this will help very much then without the map updates. My current Garmin (which did not come with updates) is only 2 years old and almost all of the new streets in my subdivision don't show up. It's almost unsafe to use if you don't know where you're going.
