Pros: Nice user interface. Simple and intuitive. Comes with a 4 device universal remote which can be handy. Picture quality in 1080i meets my expectations. Colors are rich, screen is bright, images are crisp. HDMI interface works nicely with my Panasonic uponverting DVD player. No noticable signal degredation when running my 2ch sound system off the monitor's analog audio output.
Cons: Standard NTSC TV from my non-HD TV tuner leaves a lot to be desired on this thing. I don't know if there is a HD flat screen that can to NTSC well, but this definitely isn't one of them. However, stuff in 4:3 aspect looks great coming from my upconverting DVD player, but it's sending it in 1080i. The problem with NTSC is that image edges are somewhat distorded (ghosting?). It's most noticable when there's print in the picture. Otherwise, color and brightness is fine.
Other Thoughts: Man what I can I say about buying a TV these days, it's rough no matter how you look at it. There are so many different standards and types of equipment it makes your head spin. I figure I came out pretty unscathed on this one. I got the quality I was looking for with 1080i, but I got slightly flamed on NTSC It's not like you can test drive a bunch of different equipment. This is a nice flat panel though. There's a lot to like about it. One of my problems was that I had a cost and physical size limitation. This unit was the best for me in those regards. I'm happy for the most part. I think I could have done a lot worse. One other note, the shipment was very fast and the packaging was in perfect condition. The unit arrived with absolutely no defect or damage. But, that's what I've come to expect from NewEgg and why I always buy EVERYTHING from them.
