I forgot I submitted this. Know nothing about them, just seemed cheap! lol

I've been trying to learn about them as ALL the kids want them this year - son REALLY wants an iPad - but even getting the refurbished one - it would be his only gift (and that's hard to do since I buy all year and already have a stash put back for him.) ;) I got a kindle fire last year and LOVE it - but the kids want things with cameras and all kind of features that I know NOTHING about - so - I am now going to put my GEEK hat on and learn all I can about tablets and their features. :)

My son HAD to have an Ipad to BEFORE his birthday. COULD NOT wait. Lost interest in about a week. Haven't seen him touch it since. HAD to have a Kindle too. He's NOT a reader...but we hoped. SAME damn thing happened. Expensive toys!

FibroMom I will tell you if you want him to be happy and not get beaten up or teased...Don't buy this one LOL. I hate to say it but kids are brutal and even that aside, he's going to want to be on the same platform as all his friends to send messages and share games and such. An "iPad 2, 16gb with wi-fi" should be plenty for a kid in school and right now there is a deal on ebay for $369. I saw it on dealspl.us homepage. Good luck!

Thank you, boseman - I hadn't considered the platform thing... and I really don't want him to get beaten up! :( I think you are right on this one! My girls who are 37 and 30 should be fine with something like this - because they just WANT a tablet to play with - but the 16 year old IS going to want to be able to communicate with his friends with it. You are very wise and I truly appreciate your input on this one! :)

LOL! I still think it's a Great deal and may still get these for my daughters - but I think he is right on my son... I just have to sell a body part to get him the iPad he wants! ;)
