I was down there last year but really didnt have any time to explore at all. But I will be back down on the 21st for a business trip. Im primarily looking for some great restaurants for dinner. If youre from the area do you have any recommendations?

Not from down there but I used to go to a crawfish festival in Breaux Bridge. Mainly ate at the festival, but there was a restaurant up I49 close to Carencro (sp?) called Prejeans that was pretty good.

Ill be around Breaux. Actually my new boss is a Breaux so I will have to ask him about the area. Im just looking for some amazing place where I can just have my fill of crawdads, clams, etc. And definately stopping by Bordens ice cream. That was one of the few places I got to stop on my last trip down there because I just had toi drive a piece of equipment down from PA and head right back.

Yeah hes from there. Actually I think we are flying down together. He is going home for his time off. I know some people from Metarie, Chalmette and the general NO area but nobody from Lafayette.

Most people from S. LA don't think too much of the people from NO. I have friends from New Iberia (south of LaFayette a ways), Breaux Bridge and Lake Charles. None have much good to say about NO. May be the difference between country people and city people I dunno. Anyway, have fun. If you have time take an air boat ride through the Atachafalaya basin. Or at least in a flat bottom with a go devil motor. May scare up some gators.

Yeah I wont have that much time. Basically just time to eat and thats fine. The company I work for now has a shop in Broussard but New Iberia is where I was at last year. Ive been to New Orleans for Mardi Gras years ago and yeah it just doesnt seem the same. Its an entirely different type person from those parts IMO.

Prejeans was the place everyone recommended but honestly I didnt care for it. Seems like a tourist trap. Any place that has a gift shop just screams tourist restaurant. It was ok but since I went there on Monday I have had 2 much better meals. Tomorrow one of the local workers is cooking for us. Domestic rabbit and raccoon, possibly some wild hog, I guess our mission is to shoot a hog tomorrow. Should be fun.

Yeah it is kinda touristy. Like I said, I usually ate at the festival. My ex was pretty high maintenance and had to have a meal at a restaurant where you paid too much, so we usually made a trip to Prejean's. I prefer local places. Give me a plate of fresh boiled crawfish and I'm happy.

Never had raccoon. If you've never had it, wild hog has a sweet yet gamey taste to it. Some people don't like it. Dunno if they have the same breed down there, but the hogs up here are of a breed that you pretty much have to shoot them right behind the front leg. Further towards the head is protected with thich fur and fat that may not kill the thing.

Good luck. Should be fun and mild weather.
