Q: Anyone using Virgin Mobile phone plans? Wondering if it's a good deal...

So Virgin Mobile offers a "Beyond Talk" plan which gives you unlimited data, text, and web access on a 3G network. This plan provides 300 minutes of talk time and has a base price (before taxes) of $25 per month. You can up those minutes to 1200 minutes for $40 a month. You have to buy a phone for ~$150, but the plan requires NO contract. This is easily half the cost of my monthly AT&T bill. I'm not sure I'm ready to give up my IPhone 3Gs just yet, but a $40 a month savings is hard to turn your nose up at... It appears that Virgin Mobile utilizes Sprint's network. And the phone I would likely end up with would be the Blackberry Curve, LG Optimus, or Samsung Intercept. Just wondering if anyone is familiar with this company or possible pitfalls. THANKS!

I too am currently using an iphone 3GS on a Tmobile family plan. I had also purchased the LG Optimus V a few months ago and had also been using the Virgin Mobile $25 prepaid plan. I love the Virgin Mobile plan, mostly for the unlimited texts and data. I personally don't use much of the minutes since I still use my iphone also. But you cannot go wrong with $25 a month for all that the plan gives. Our cable internet at home was out for TWO weeks last month, and I had the whole family (2-3 laptops, xbox, ..) connected to the internet through the LG Optimus' wifi hotspot. I was very amazed with its speed. Overall, the VM plan is great, the LG Optimus V is super great... i still love my iphone too though .. :)

I've been using VM for years - an old Kyocera TNT (with GPS costs as needed)! They are part of SprintĀ® 3G network so service has been way better. I use facebook for family/friends chatting so $25 plan seemed "a no brainer." The unlimited texting makes getting a million coupon alerts worth while, too. :)
