Q: Comments & Messages??

How come I can only leave comments or send messages on a few users pages not all users? I have been having this problem mostly with newer users...I have been noticing this for a while now but I just thought i would finally ask... is it just me? has it always been this way? is this some sort of error?

that seems odd. you may need to contact a mod in order to resolve the issue. it doesn't sound like something that should be happening. i haven't noticed the issue, but i haven't been messaging people or comment on user pages often. when i did in the past, i didn't seem to have any issues.

I think it's a user's setting. Under User Options, Notifications Settings
"Check the box(es) you'd like to receive e-mail notifications for:
General dealspl.us Notices
Private Messages"

@glwrks I already get the email notification that is not the problem I am just not able to send messages and comments to select users... But thanks for trying to help :)

I have the same problem. Someone had asked me a question and I could not reply. Also, on some users profiles there is no "send user a message" button for me.

@akaricke whenever that has hapened to me in the past I would always just leave a comment on one of there very old deals... but i hope there is a fix out there somewhere...

You will need to follow the person you are trying to message prior to messaging them.

Thanks TOTOO...I thought individuals just weren't enabling the messaging by choice.
Please correct my thinking if I'm wrong:
1) Their (those you want to send to) settings should be set to allow private messages?
2) You must follow them to access messaging them?

@glwrks...You just have to follow the person you want to message. The settings are for emails like if you want to get an email when you get a message and general notices.
