Q: Coupon code to "specific" items

Alright. I've been having a problem lately with Dell and other merchants who have coupon codes to a "select" item. For example (http://dealspl.us/dell-coupons/186763), has a description of 25% off select laptops and desktops. When I click on the coupon code it goes straight to the Dell's homepage. I take my time choosing the perfect laptop for me and then once I apply the coupon code it doesn't work. How am I suppose to know which laptops or desktops can the coupon code apply to? I think the user who posted the coupon should at least post the link to which the coupon applies to or else the coupon is essentially useless.

I know what you mean. When I post coupons, I tend to post a link (in which the coupon code applies to) unless the coupon code applies everything to the site.

I think this is pretty standard in coupon posting because if the coupon doesn't work for the dp user then you'll see a lot of thumbs down which essentially means less clicks -> no money :( . I highly recommend everyone who posts coupons post a link to which the coupon applies to.

Yeah, that is a good question. I have that problem for JCP items also. I put the items in my cart, and then it says that the coupon does not work. I usually post a coupon with more info (I will have to see if the link idea works).

Those who post coupons should put the link to the section that the coupon applies to in the url spot on the submit coupon page.
Another suggestion is to paste the link in the coupon description area because sometimes the coupon links get converted to the homepage. That way the user can copy and paste the link to the direct section the coupon applies.
