While I'm not in favor of American football ever becoming an Olympic sport, they should definitely bring back baseball and softball, as many countries around the world play both.. Not sure why they decided to get rid of them this Olympics.

"Football" is a ALL-AMERICAN game... it is not international.
Europe's "Football" is considered America's soccer.

sad how everyone talks about soccer as the true football game....really who cares what it is called?. all of my daughters play soccer, and I can't wait for the games to end....it is worst than hockey.....

As much as I am a huge football fan from midget football to the NFL and every level in between. No football has ever given me the seat of your pants excitement as a sudden death game 7 NHL playoff game. I really feel sorry for those who cant enjoy a good hockey game as there really just isnt a sport as exciting.

I've been to hocky games and in person they are fun. On TV I could care less. Soccer? I'd rather take a salted knife in the eye than watch it. As for football in the olympics? Nah, it would have to be single elimination because of injuries and how long it takes to recover from a game. I don't think it would be doable.

@encorez No offense to your daughters, but they probably don't play like the women's Olympic teams do, which is probably why it's as bad as watching paint dry.

To be honest, I used to think American football, along with baseball, soccer, hockey, golf, and any other sport besides basketball were boring as hell. Then I actually started to learn the rules and appreciate the strategy and difficulty of each sport. Needless to say, I don't bad mouth sports anymore because of its lack of a violent or fast-paced nature.

As for whether or not American Football should be in the Olympics? It would be cool, but I doubt it would be a fair match like everyone said. Also, having two footballs as a sport is just going to annoy the rest of the world who calls soccer "football." It'd be like introducing a new race and having it measured in yards and not meters haha.
