Q: Good price on Child's Jiu-Jitsu Gi?

Im looking for a Gi for my kids who just started a class. Preferably under $60-70

You can often find children sizes cheap if they are used since kids grow so fast. Maybe ask around at a class or gym in your area. Some parent might even give you her kid's old Gi and you can wash them so you don't have to worry about nasty sweat or anything. Or you can look on ebay for used ones.

My family has owned a martial arts school for years. My parents can buy uniforms wholesale for significantly less than retail. They mark them up a bit to cover some overhead costs, but their price is significantly cheaper than whats available by shopping around. Does your Dojo have them for sale? In addition to them likely passing along a discount to their students, they should be carrying only brands they know will last and fit your training needs.

With Jiu Jitsu, you'll want to make sure that you're not going too cheap since they'll be rougher on them. Look for reinforced knees and elbows.

Used for kids is a great option, and since your kid(s?) just started, you'll want to make sure they're going to stick with it before you spend a mint on accessories to their training. We have a rack at our school for people to sell used uniforms. It's sort of a consignment basis, but we don't take a cut. They're displayed for interested parties to see, but the sale takes place student-to-student. Perhaps see if your new Dojo has something similar. You might also talk to some of the other parents there.

If you're set on buying new, I'd make sure you've explored the return policy in case it's not what you expect. Additionally Asian-made products can vary widely within their tagged sizes, so be sure to review the sizing charts.

Lastly, if you're going to buy bigger so they can grow into it, I'd suggest hemming up the pants and sleeves so they're not catching toes, fingers, wrists, etc. as they're training. Just don't have the tailor trim the excess fabric so it can be let out as they grow. This is a far better plan that rolling or pinning with safety pins.

Thanks for the help everyone. The ones they sell at dojo are $85. I need 2, so if I can't find one at a thrift shop, I may consider the ones on eBay first if I can find what I need there a little cheaper.
