Q: Has anyone else noticed this? Coupon and Deal Arbitrariness...

I go to post a great deal or coupon, that comes right to my email or snail mail, and someone else has already posted it. I know that's common, but the thing is, I just got them...Is it time zones or do you think stores are messing with us, the consumers? For example, in my mail I received a discount for Gap, I saw my mailman put it in the box, and I see here dealspl.us, that people have the same one posted DAYS ago...that is just sad. LOL. :) Any thoughts?

All I can say is obviously not everyone gets mail or email the same time as everyone else so yeah it happens. Same goes for any kind of mail, I dont get my magazines the same day as friends who get the same mags.

Time zone, location, and email (alpha) may play a big role to this. For mail, they may print or organize the mails by name or by how long you've been on Gap's mailing list. Then consider the location, if the letter was mailed out in California, I would expect people in Arizona to get it days before people in New York will get it.

For emails, I believe some of the merchants notify their affiliates about a coupon code a few days in advance so they could share it with their community/group.

I'm guessing on this one, but I think merchants send out emails in batches. If you're lucky you're email could be in one of the first email batches they send out. Depending on the number of email subscribers the merchant has the time difference could range 2-3 hours from the first batch of email that is sent.
