Q: How do you feel when someone updates your deal?
|
Some of our deals get updated by another member from time to time. How does everyone feel about that?

At first thought I'd think I am being taken advantage of, but when you think about it rationally there can be a couple very justifiable reasons to just let it go. 1~ The deal had expired but was brought back at a later time, in which case they could have posted that deal on their own but decided to update yours. 2~ The goal of dealspl.us is to save the most money on consumer goods so as long as the new price is better (otherwise it's just an expired deal). 3~ Just like the original poster, the updater is probably just trying to get a good deal for the deal hunters. These are just a few I can put together at the top of my head. I haven't had someone update my postings before so I will have to wait and see. The only thing that might really get me down is if people give my deal a thumbs down :-( |

The only time I update a deal is when I go to post a deal and find it has already been posted but has expired or the price has changed. I don't see a problem updating someone's deal or having mine updated. We all have a common goal of giving people the best up-to-date deals and at the end of the day you are still getting money from the deal. Sharing is what makes this site great so i'm happy if someone can update my deal and we both still make money from it:) @LindaKNor People leave mean comments on your deal updates? I haven't seen anything of that nature but have you reported it? Hopefully, the person could be reported and/warned by the mods to be more considerate. |

I've been told the correct procedure is to update a post if it comes up and not to continue with another. This was directly from DP. With the new addition of adding comments to " available again" Flags the reason for updating can be included. I submit new posts occasionally when a ?duplicate comes up if the pictures don't match my deal because as we all know we are unable to change a picture on an updated post, only the original post member can do this. I don't mind my deals being updated,I still make money on it and it may otherwise sit in the background earning me nothing. |

| @krmills i don't see how that is right, as people should know what is the lowest price they could get for the item. What i think you should do is flagged the deal as dead. Well that's just my opinion because, i usually do prices checks on dealspl.us and compare to a item i'm looking and see if i'm getting a better deal or it was previously cheaper before. This way i know i should be patient and wait for the item to go on sale again. |

| i don't appreciate it when someone updates my deal if there is a penny or nickel price drop. It's unnecessary and I feel that person is abusing the update/edit system to earn hits. |

| i don't like when i update info like - "60% off sale" changes to "70% off sale plus a coupon" and a mod (or anyone) only adds links to "pretty it up" BUT no credit is given for the original update. I've sent messages asking and am always told "the credit is there" but it's not. :( |

| I don't mind when someone updates my deal. I think its great that the item I had previously posted is now cheaper than what it was and maybe now more people ould be happier with the price even more. Getting credit and all that stuff is cool but it isn't that important to me. Making sure people are able to save money and find great deals is what matters. |

I wanted to bring this to attention again, just today I updated my old deal from a $17.47 to the price drop of $14.97. I wanted the better part of an hour and even though my name was listed as an update on the deal page itself, ramana_forums updated it (presumably while my price update wasn't visible) to that new price, plus removing the additional info I put in the bottom. I understand that since I have low rep that ramana would get their update faster than me, but will I still get the credit? What's bothersome is that the deal post went back to the recent deals page with my name tagged but old price. |

| @Nvaldera That's happened to me and I seen it happen to a few other people. I don't like when people do that at all lol |

| Everyone should be posting a better price on your deal if they find one. Would you rather they just start a new deal for that item at the lower price? The purpose of this site is to save money for myself and everyone else here and if we find an item cheaper than someone posted surely I will be either posting a new deal or commenting your where to get it cheaper. |
