Q: Hurricane Issac in FL! UPDATE- personal eyewittness

The effects from Hurricane Issac can be felt in Miami now.
Winds are strong, but manageable. Raining on and off. throughout the weekend.
Newscaster are constantly tracking the storm and warning everyone to be prepared.

But the long time locals that are here keep saying this is nothing of a hurricane, having been through worse.

Thanks for the update! Glad it's not TOO bad down there. Once it hits the warm waters of the Gulf is what worries me... I'm on the Alabama Gulf Coast - east of Mobile... right now it is NOT looking very good for us... they expect it to be a category 2 by the time it reaches us... it's the SIZE of this thing that worries me - it is massive - we could have pouring rain for days... loosens the shallow roots of the pine trees and THAT can spell trouble as we have seen in the past. :(

well- that was 3 hours ago. The wind has picked up since and is raining on and off now. You just have to wait it out.

8 hours into the storm. I had driven to the airport, and it was nuts outside! But, driveable, although- now, I would not consider driving to the airport....
Gusty winds ripping through the beach, with rains on top of that too!

The newscasters say that Issac has passed over FL. Although, in the Miami area it is still gusting winds and lots of rain on and off...

It's still coming down on and off here in Miami.
I was at the beach earlier, thought it was clearing up, people were coming out to the beach too- but then as soon as I got home, the rain started up again...

People here are making last min preparations. Buying boards, water, batteries, generators, etc, at inflated prices. Gas stations are out of fuel. And of course if anyone is familiar with Cajuns preparing for a good storm you'll know that everyone has their fridge stocked with beer waiting to enjoy the show with family & friends- lol.

Brentheriot - How bad is it over there now? We are getting waves of really bad winds and rain - then it clears for a while and BOOM hits again. Looks like it will get worse during the night. Worried about where YOU are and where this thing is headed.
