Q: If the vendor fails to deliver would livingsocial refund the money?

I have had a terrible experience with a deal I bought through livingsocials. I bought a car detailing service in July 2011 and its been 10 months now with me constantly trying to contact the vendor to setup an appointment but its all be in vein. Since its a mobile car detailing company, they don't have a physical location for me to track them down or a phone number to reach them at. I have called livingsocial couples times and they said, we only refund the money within 15 days of purchasing the deal or if the vendor is out of business. I told them that if I have been trying to contact the vendor like the other 600 people who purchased the deal and haven't been able to doesn't that mean the vendor went out of business or something?!?! But they won't listen!! I am so frustrated and furious at this point because livingsocial should take responsibility for this. I only trusted the vendor and the deal because it was through a reputable company like livingsocial.

Has anyone ever had a similar experience and can may be give some suggestions as to how to deal with this? The deal was worth $50, so not a whole lot to loose here but still, I would like my money back because I did not receive the service like I was promised.

Thanks

I wonder if that vendor is a scammer because I read a complaint like yours on one of the open mic discussions at about a car detailing purchase, although she said she bought hers through Eversave.

Omg, I am so glad at this point!! I was on a call having a discussion with a friend about this deal because she had purchased it too and she just called me back saying she just spoke with someone at livingsocials and they refunded her the money back. They said, they had confirmed back in January that the vendor had gone out of business and had refunded everyone the money back and were surprised to hear that she had not gotten her money back yet! ANYWAYS....here I go to give them a call...good luck to me :D

If they won't refund money did u try asking for credit so you can apply to next purchase on living social ?? I'm still so skeptical about these discounted sites.... It's just too good to be true. Sorry this happened Florida, hope you get your money back. That's equivalent to a Pair of shoes you can buy... :(

Hey Florida, I have heard stories about groupon refunding the money if the vendor is unable to fulfill their orders. I am shocked that they won't give you your money back. Send them an email and threaten to file a complaint with BBB or Consumer Affairs. I have tried that with another online company and got all my money back. Good Luck. It's worth a shot.

Thank you all for the suggestions but the good news is that my husband was able to finally get the money out! Pheww!
They got way too many complains on this one to let it go, so they declared the vendor out of business and finally refunded the money. :)...........
@barbie - now off to buying a pair of shoes you mentioned.

I've had a good experience with Livingsocial. The merchant failed to give me the full car wash that I paid for and I got one that was worth half, so Living Social credited me for the difference.

Might just depend on what customer service agent you get on the phone.
