Walgreens will no longer be doing Register Rewards as of September. There were rumors floating around in couponer world for some time. Now they've told their employees, and are planning the new sales model, which revolves around have a card. You will now have to accrue points to redeem for a gift card, like they have done in the past for test areas.

This is great news! I could never keep up with those papers so ended up losing $. Most phones can download an app to store all your rewards cards in one place I don't even have to carry around a bunch of cards or key-cards!

Sounds good to me...I always leave Walgreens with a pang of jealousy watching the folks with binders of receipts and coupons pay pennies;)

I hated those things. They expired too quickly.

I heard they were going to go towards more of a program like CVS had. By doing this, they have the ability to track your purchases better and better target offers that suit you. This kind of info is priceless for Walgreens customers.

oh, man, glwrks! That was me, once upon a time, before the whole thing got out of hand...
@bbattag, they are going to a points system, not a card to track the rewards coupons. It looks like it will take a lot more spent to get $ back in the form of a gift card.
