Q: Misleading Email
|
What are your thoughts about this... this morning I got up to an email from Kohls.com that stated Now through February 13th Save an ADDITIONAL 40% off Already reduced clearance Items... Not sure if the 20% OFF Promo Code on other items would stack or not - but not really caring - I stocked my cart full of Clearance items... NO DISCOUNT when I tried to check out... I tried several times - nothing - I waited for their office to open at 7am CST and called after 15 minutes of the girl checking sku numbers - I was told the prices are ALREADY marked down an additional 40%! (But they are the SAME PRICES they were YESTERDAY!!!) I told her the email was VERY misleading and she said "Is there anything else I can help you with?" I said "NO" and hung up! Do you think the email was misleading?
*Tried to add a picture of the email - but it didn't take it. :( |

I probably would have read it that Kohls already took the 40% off so the price you are seeing is as low as it will go without additional codes. (Like the girl told you). I may be disappointed but I'm not really sure I'd say the add was misleading. At some point they took a $100 coat, marked it down to $80, and then again marked it down to $48... They used the start time as NOW since I would guess different people will get their emails, mailers, and/or sale advertisements at different times. I wouldn't be upset about it. Oh wait, on further review...I checked my email and it lists on the additional 20% off part the dates "from Feb 10th - Feb 14" ...(Since Feb 10 was yesterday I would assume all the sale stuff on the email pertained to those dates). Look within the email a bit for those specific dates. I understand your disappointment and that you were hoping for a bigger discount. I may just be used to Kohls and how they advertise their markdowns. |

I agree that today's email was misleading. See image I was about to call my sisters with the news;) I do have less of a bad feeling about this, compared to JCPenney's. There, I try to put items in my cart, only to get "We're sorry, but the XXXXX is currently unavailable." Their site is slow to load & a waste of my time. |

Did your email have the top part too that says to take an additional 20% off? The "Yes Pass" part? If you read the entire email and not just the bottom part like you posted, it's a little clearer to interpret what they are saying. Not that it's totally clear. It just makes it a little more understandable when you see it altogether. (Maybe your email was different??) It's not that I don't see your point at all-- It's just Kohls does this double percent off stuff all the time so I get used to it. |

| many stores do not abide by their advertisements. your email was part of their marketing tool to get you to add items to your cart. you should print out that email of false advertisement and write a letter to Kohl's explaining your frustration. I'm sorry you had to experience that. |

| Kohl's rarely has good deals compared to other stores for the same products. But it is a store who is out for profit, so this does not surprise me. |
