Q: Nook or Kindle ???

Can anyone here who is knowledgeable please suggest me which is a better reader ?? I would like to hear some reviews before I buy something.

Ipod Touch!! You can use both programs and do sooo much more than just read a book!! I use the Kindle app most, but they are both good!

Nichols705, but Ipod touch is very small screen size, and also the e-ink technology just stands out..gud 2 ur eyes :)

i say Kindle--good library, good support, great screen. The only downside of it vs. the Nook is that the new Google eBookstore works for the Nook but not for the Kindle.

so if we're saying that the iPod Touch can do it all..why not just say the iPad? i mean..you can still use it to read your Kindle purchases, you can still use iBooks..and you can still do all the other stuff such as browsing the web and checking email.

I have a kindle and I love it. I haven't had any experience with the Nook, but my kindle is amazing :)

My father has the Kindle and my mother-in-law has the Nook, and I have played with both of them. There are advantages and disadvantages to both:

With more contrast, the Kindle's screen looks crisper. It also seems to be a bit faster when turning pages, but not much. Navigation seems a little easier on the Kindle, and it just feels a bit more comfortable in the hand.

Now the reason my Mother-in-law got the Nook was because it has the ability to show e-books that she downloads from her public library. This is something that the Kindle cannot do unless you hack the DRM and convert it to the Kindle format, which is not encouraged. So if you are looking to download free Library e-books then I would go with the Nook. You can also download books from the new Google ebook store, http://books.google.com/ebooks. You cannot do this with the Kindle. Google also provides a great list of free books. One thing that my mother-in-law was disappointed in was the lack of audible.com support. She has an older ipod that works with Audible, so it's not a huge deal, but it would have been convenient to not have to carry around both.

All-in-all both readers are very nice, and if I got either one in my stocking I would not be disappointed. However, if I had to spend my hard earned cash on one, I would choose the Kindle. Its sharper looking screen, better hold, and Audible.com support wins out for me.

Would you recommend those devices for just average reader? Do you read more? Like with every electronic device, the prices will go down. Is there any word out there on prices going down for Kindle?

The Nook - The kindle still has yet to produce a color screen. Plus with the Nook running android, you can do far more than just read books, and all in color. True Amazon has a few more books, but I'm sure B&S could get them for you.
