Q: People are really great resources, aren't they?

Right now I am so relieved and pleased with someone that did me a huge favor so I wanted to share how important it is to maintain good relationships.

I used to really dislike chit chat and making an effort to check in on people because I felt it was "fake" and wasted time. However, part of being a Pre-Med student is networking, so I had to go through and be "fake" and make that chit chat.

I found out that I could help people when I knew what was going on in their lives. By making small talk, I found out that my co-worker was applying to a scholarship at my school and I helped her tweak her essay message and fix small grammar mistakes. I was ecstatic when she won a scholarship!

One day, as I was making a trip out to the mall to pick up my free Victoria's Secret panties (score!!!), I stopped to chat with my boss from a store that closed working at a place I had wanted to work at for some time. She was happy to catch up and urged me to apply, giving me an application and promising a rave review to her boss. I am now working with her, and I love my job! Then today I realized my Victoria's Secret Rewards were expiring and I had no way to get to the mall in time--my old boss from there helped me make it work.

What situations did you find ways to benefit from relationships you have established or have been a resource yourself?

You'd be surprised how many people want to help you. All you need to do is ask :) I had just started a new job and wanted to open a capital one bank account. I couldn't make it to a bank so I asked a guy I dealt with at my new job who handled the accounts i managed if he can open one for me without me having to get to a bank. He said fax him all the paper work and the next day I had a new bank account!

@nimrodboy3, I always have questions about medicine! Are you already in the heath field or are you in school for it too?
