Q: Postal Service to say goodbye to mail delivery on Saturdays

With all the Government cutbacks...i never thought i would see them cancel Saturday Mail delivery.

It seems like a pretty easy and sensible cut to make. I can't even remember the last time I set foot in a post office or mailed anything. If they decided to deliver mail only every other day, I probably wouldn't even notice.

"Patrick R. Donahoe, postmaster general and CEO, said at a Wednesday morning news conference that the agency will continue to deliver packages, mail-order medicine and express mail on Saturdays. But letters, bills, cards, and catalogs won't get to their recipients until Monday."

... and I believe your local PO's Saturday hours will remain the same, just no delivery of letters and junk mail.

This is frightening, no wonder they aren't making money!:

The Postal Service faces other constraints. It's banned from setting up retail outlets, for example, that could generate profits to help subsidize delivery costs. Worse, it is barred by Congress from charging the full cost of providing the service it is required to deliver.
