Q: Really, who keeps plus-ing all these crappy deals up?

The heating up page is full of average to poor deals, with high scores.....don't people ever shop at the stores?

a 10% sale isn't worth posting....
an overcharged list price shouldn't be listed....

come on, this crap keeps going on...

the mods need to just delete the crappy deals right away.

done ranting.

thanks

I totally agree, and have gotten very stingy with the PLUS button recently!! I only PLUS a SUPER-DUPER Sweat deal!!!! Everyone needs to think really hard if a deal is really a "DEAL" before they plus it.

My only guess is that they have more of a following and/or are getting people they know to thumbs up their deals.

But, yeah, I agree. There is a serious lack of quality in some of the deals.

I'm guessing the best way to combat it is to have more of the seasoned members (us) do more pluss'ing. If deals needed 30 or more plusses to FP, it would probably fix the issue. Plusses are free!

I completely agree!!! Some not so hot deals even make the front page. I may be wrong, but I think too many shopaholics visit this site. This place is not as reliable as it once was.

@maven3 - You don't have to have 30 PLUS to make it to the front page, I have seen deals on the heating up page with 40 plus and a deal with 16 plus will go to the front page, it is up to the moderators to decide what deal goes to the front page.

The mods decide what goes on the hot page not the number of plus'. But, I agree, the heating up section is fully of awful deals that were manipulated up. Go through and thumb them down. I vote with my thumb :)

^ if you give to many thumbs down...you get a warning. But you can thumbs up as much as you want...so maybe people should go and start giving the thumbs up more?

what gets my butt is, some posters always have good deals, and others always poor/average. And we all know whom I speak of...

I see a LOT of crap making the heating up section and front page.
BUT, just because I do not like a deal I do not thumb them down.
Other people have different taste. I know stuff I think is super will not get many thumbs at all.

inflated list prices piss me off, old list prices, at twice the going price. and people fall for this stuff. If anyone sees an outrageous list price, that should be equal a thumbs down....

I agree. Along with this. Some great deals get 0 or.not many pluses. People need to compare prices before posting. If its not the best price u can find, it shouldn't.be posted.

I wish we had a way to bring down someone's rep for posting crappy deals

Like bbattag said. "People need to compare prices before posting" you could also people might check the prices before thumbing up a deal. Simple to check before posting or thumbing is www.froogle.com put the item in and see how the price compares to many stores.

What is funny is I have been saying this for what 3 or 4 years now? There should be tons of comments I made that go something like this. Why is it still there is no negative rating system like most every other deals site in existence has?

You can't ask someone to thumb up or down a deal. It depends on everyone's taste and it's a free choice whether or not they thumb up or down that specific deal. After all, mods are the ones that decide the front page deals, so they ignore the ones that are not good "deals". Plus, I agree with akaricke.

sometimes I know the items isnt the best deal but if I find something unique I try to share it. You never know what one person thinks is worthy or not. But I havent been quite as active lately and I should be to see what is going on in the heating up section.
