Q: Same deal, but not really the same.

I submitted a deal that's a duplicate, but that duplicate was 7 months ago. What is the time frame in which a deal can be, as you would say, "reposted"? I don't want to anger anyone as duplicates do cause quite a stir on this site... so I would like you guys' opinions. Thanks!

Next time... if you can try updating it to bring it back on the front page, it won't be considered a duplicate then. You may not get the full credit for updating it, but, I think you get something. If anything, for commenting on it, and the plusses go to the original poster, I believe.

A big problem is- when someone posts a front page and then it expires. Then you try to post a new sale event- but the old one still comes up.

You are suppose to update it instead of making a new post and you will get half credit and it will show up as deal update but if it has been over a year you will get full credit and it will show up as a regular deal even though the other persons picture will show under yours

^ what nimase85 said is correct. You get half credit for under 1 year and then full credit after.

You should always just be updating the deal if it comes up as a prior listing

I'm not in the MM program, but the one year rule sure seems strange to me, unless the deal really is continuously available for the whole year. To me, a deal is over when it is no longer available.

@fluffy - I think most of us would agree with what you said.

I can maybe see giving 1/2 credit for 1 month after you posted the deal, but that's it.

Otherwise, it promotes posting every item you can (even if it's not a deal), hoping that it eventually goes on sale and is edited. Then you get half credit.
