Q: Spin off of Dealwager's question- As a PARENT, what toys were the biggest hits with your kids

Try as I may to get my kids to love the type of toys that would have let me relive my childhood through them, it didn't happen.  I bought them: 1.  Remote controled cars...they barely palyed with them. 2.  BB guns- rarely shot them. 3.  Baseball gloves imagining hours of playing catch- seldom lasted a few minutes. What did they like the most when they were little?  The boxes the toys came in (if large enough to make a fort outta them) and a dump truck pile of dirt I bought to level the front yard with.   How's about your kids?  Gifts that flopped vs. non-gifts your kids loved.

For my son he had a blast with his science kit but video games are the big deal for him. My girls, they just liked getting lots of clothes.

Raised 2 boys. Balls - all kinds, from basketballs to juggling. Legos, Knex and Estes rockets. And not necessarily toys, but endless hours of fun - Tree house and trampoline. Bikes, sleds and skis and snowboards.

My kids loved Knex glwrks. Legos to a lesser degree, but they stil played with them for hours.

Nothing worse than stepping on a Lego bare footed. >:-|

Oh I forgot to mention anything Hot Wheels or WWE. My son has my collection of Hot Wheels from when I was a child, as well as those of my 2 brothers. Thats about the biggest collection of anything we have and that is in excess of 3500 cars.

My daughter is only 16 months...she loves her books that were given to us in our "reading well" and the tupperware cabinet and a few pots and pans lol I have to pull out random toys to get her to remember she has a ton of them.
