Q: Thumb-Downer Strikes Again

Hi, I care about my rep. It's rather simple - I like opening up dealspl.us and seeing it go up and I don't like seeing it go down overnight. On top of that, I like to know why it fluctuates. Maybe a coupon code I submitted didn't work. If that's the case, I'm sorry - I don't know why it doesn't work. Could've sworn I got an email/text promoting the coupon. If I got the expiration date wrong and you didn't get a chance to take advantage of the deal, that's also my fault but it's never on purpose!
However, I don't appreciate whoever is going around and thumbing-down my comments, specifically my comments. There's 15 comments on that deal and you're thumbing down mine. On top of that, you're doing it to ALL of the comments I've posted.
Like here, here, and herealong with many others.
So there, you've provoked a response from me. Are you done now? If I did something wrong, please let me know what it is. Just let me know why you're spending so much time just down-voting me. If you don't have a reason, please stop. In the big picture, it might not be a big deal, but my dealspl.us rep matters to me and I'm only here trying to find ways to save money and to share ways to find great deals as well.

That is someone being really mean to you! I am sorry to hear there. I do have people thumbing down my deals because they got to it after it has expired ( which is not my fault because samples go very fast) but noone thumbs down my comments for no reason.
I think this is something you might want to check with the mods...they might have a way to track things...I am hoping! Good luck

It's unfortunate that people will go out of their way to do this. I hope the mods can investigate on this. You are doing a great job and please continue to do so :)

It obviously is someone singling you out. I see no reason to thumb down anything you said or posted. I truly hope that someone is looking into this for you and something is done to that person. I can't imagine what they think they are gaining by doing this. Keep up what you are doing! :)

You guys are too nice. I only posted to vent because I just got so frustrated with it.
I love how much people are commenting on deals now - it's really letting me get to know the dealspl.us community. I would have never known how witty and caring everyone was if not for the comments and Ask & Share sections.
Thank you for the uplifting comments!

Also, Florida2Texas, I'm a little jealous of how much traffic you've accumulated in so little time. I remember when your rep was barely 1k. :|

Even though I have had my account since 2010..I have only started seriously posting deals since January 2012. I have come to realize whats a good time and whats a good product that gets peoples attention. Also nimase85 was kind enough to like few of my deals one fine day ( she is absolutely not someone who I know personally). You need to post a few more deals per day because even if people don't thumbs up your deals...just posting deals increases your rep too! Hope this helps :)

It's not only you. It happens to everyone. There are grumpy people that like to thumbs down everyone. But I think the majority of the community makes up for it, by giving plusses often.

it's not just you arsiel, i'm seeing this happen to ALOT of people. Commenting doesn't help nor does flagging. i commented that a Kmart deal was better than the FP Sears deal (they're sister stores with the same items, Kmart is better this week, sheesh) and technically, the Sears deal is a dupe as the same was posted and FP'd some days earlier.

If i were the suspicious type, i would point out that those who show concern for unfair practices become EZ prey.

@bbattag Oh, I'm sure it's not just me but that doesn't make it any less infuriating! I'd like to think that whenever I plus someone's something, it'd make them a little happier that day and just hope that karma exists :P

@omegafemale Sometimes I wonder if people would make accounts just to thumb down... Also, deals are sometimes difficult to keep track of but I completely understand why it's annoying to see dupes, especially of your deals. It's even moreso when they receive more attention than yours did. :/

@EzzyLovestoSave Now you're just being over the top! You know I love the deals you post so I shouldn't have to say more :) And... Are you sure you're not in your 20s? I really could not have guessed anything else. :x

@nimase85 LOL It sounded like other people thumbed you down when you first started and now you enjoy doing it to others. Glad you edited that.

@nimase85 - I really appreciated that gesture..its a good way to bring up someone's moral! Thanks a lot :)

@gangstarbarbie - I am glad that I inspire you...you are doing a great job.. because I have noticed you have only been super active this past month or so and have done pretty good so far! I am hoping you reach a 2K this month ! :)

@arisel - Seems like you have way too many friends than enemies here. Don't let that one looser bring your moral down! He/she will give it up sooner or later :)

Don't let it get to you, just keep posting your deals. Maybe the Mods can help you if it is just the same person(s) purposely doing it.

I've noticed this happening to lots of folks, it's really unfortunate that someone would take the time & effort just to thumb-down your comments.

I hope that, along with the moral support of your fellow DP-ers, that our thumbs-UP of your comments here can make up some of the difference! :)

arsiel - you seem like a really genuine and nice person - whom or whomever is dong this to you will get theirs in the end! Keep on doing what you are doing - and don't let this get you down... we all have and will be there - it's just part of the SICK games some people feel the need to play on DP - but all in all - it's an Awesome place to be! ♥

@chuckydealpl Actually, one of the mods messaged me saying they were going to try to look into it and to just ignore it in the meantime. I'm pleasantly surprised.

@scoops It's made up the difference and more! I honestly didn't expect a response like this (and half-feared for more thumb-downs). You all really make a great support group :)

@FibroMom You're absolutely right about that. I spend SO much time on dealspl.us, often just waiting some deal that calls my name and tells me to spend money but it's also a great place to have a little laugh here and there.

@akaricke - if we could see who gives thumbs up and down, then we won't even need a button for thumbs down... cause no one wants to be the bad one out in the open and no one will ever thumbs down a deal or comment :)

it will help also that every deal that has expired cant be thumb down, some people get to the deal late or its expired when they click

@akaricke I replied to the mod who messaged me about this with the same sugguestion though Florida2Texas is probably right. The thumb down option is still useful for coupons that never initially worked though. 5 thumb downs = auto expire, I think.

Thank you all again for your responses & support. It means a lot :)

I just came across a person on here leaving a very mean/rude comment about a deal. I looked at his comments he's left in the past and they are very mean. He threatened to thumb down someone. Hmmm I wonder if its him and why he hasnt been kicked off of here (if thats an option)

@helloamy1977 Don't know. I think I saw someone who was saying unnecessary things on certain deals but I don't remember who it was. It's... slowed down since this post which is nice but every now and then, I still see down-thumbing on comments that are harmless. Guess we can only do so much :/

There are some meanies on this site. Especially lately, it seems. Still, most of the people are very kind. Maybe the person giving you "thumbs down" will read all the kind comments and back off. Hey Ezzy, weren't you having this problem not too long ago? http://dealspl.us/answer/hey_you_forgot_one/8539

@tnglm003 I noticed that too. I didn't see anything like that until recently... I thought there was some kind of filter for it. Shrug.

@VirginiaPeanuts I read Ezzy's post when she originally posted it as well and mentioned it in another one of mine when it wasn't so bad. I'm glad most of the people in the dealspl.us community are still nice :) It makes it worth it
