I HATE moving... Anyone have any tips on making our move as misery free as possible?

I don't suppose you could pay a company to pack & move you?

Gets those little sliding pads to put underneath furniture to move it. Lots of places have boxes in their dumpsters and if you ask they'll let you have them free so you don't have to waste money on that. I'll keep thinking for more ideas...

Moving is always stressful and hectic no matter how careful you plan or if you hire someone to do all the work. Keep in mind it is a temporary state of mind and will pass. Good luck with your move :)

if you doing the moving yourself i recommend you get lots of blankets to cover furniture you dont want to get scratch. invite friends or family members to help if not there is always someone that will help in exchange for a six pack.

BLAH! Not so much fun....Mark your boxes and when you move try to put the boxes where they belong. :)

Yes, definitely label everything! The only misery free part is when you're done! That part's satisfying. :)

start anew. trash it all and buy new. not saying it's cheaper..just saying it might be easier.

You could do a moving sale to get rid off clutter you don't want to spend time, energy, & money moving.

Great ideas everybody! We are starting to trash a ton of stuff. It's amazing how much crap a small family can gather in a short period of time. What we are keeping we are labeling. Unfortunately we don't have a moving company in our area, but luckily we have a lot of people in our church that are dying to do some service. So we've been able to get some help on this side of the move. My hope is that I never have to move again, or at least until I've gathered enough stuff again to make it really miserable.

I like moving :) It means a new start. Of course, it depends how many times you move in a year. But, family & friends are close, helping me, so it's all good :)

moving really sucks.
The worst part is remembering where you live

We take a note book and list everything that goes into each box Then we give it a unique box number. so instead of ripping through the boxes looking for things we go to the note book.

Also leave a laundry basket with cleaning supplies out so you can tidy up the old place on the way out and do any quick cleaning in the new place.

Goodwiil, The Salavation Army, or local homeless shelter would be a great place to drop off items that you do not use, make a list, get a recipt and then write it off on your taxes. If in doubt throw it out.

When I moved the few times I did, I packed one room at a time and labeled each box with that room, then when arrive at new place each box is placed in the designated room, and unpacked as packed
