Best Buy gave me 1/2 off a laptop because of a mistake so I choose Best Buy. Also they have good sales.

What do you mean by best laptop? Best is in the cheapest or best price/performance ratio?

I think you need to look for a fast processor, and decent memory. Any extras that you want, you need to see what the value is in adding them on (or when they are included in the cost already). Toshiba and HP right now have some great deals. But, I did purchase a Dell as a gift for someone recently, and I got it from Walmart. It was a good "complete" laptop, with a good processor and decent features.

But, as I said, if you want a customizable laptop, you would want a deal from the manufacturer. Like Dell, HP, or Toshiba.

Best Buy is actually offering gift cards with the purchase of Macbook Pros and some iMacs. The gift cards range from $100-$150. Not bad.

Its all about the processor and the screen resolution...Other components you could upgrade easily like RAM and HD. So whenever you order customizable laptops just choose the best processor and leave everything else as is.

Just saw the Walmart ad scan at blackfriday.net and Walmart has several Laptops on Friday for under $200. I think the best was ~$168 and Walmart had some better equiped laptops in the $200-$300 Range. They will go quick though, because these are great deals.

I would choose anything from Costco, because they have a 2 yr warranty and 90 day money back guarantee...
