Q: What To Buy For a 5-year-old For Under $20?

I want to buy something for my niece for Christmas for under $20. She is 5 and can't buy her a doll or something like that. I want something that can stimulate her mind, something that can keep her interested. I was out the past weekend searching for something but with no luck. Any ideas?

How about some books? Or wait.... how about a Live Butterfly Garden? Every little girl I know that had ones of these really, really liked it! You can find them on Amazon or probably other places.

I second the books idea. You can get her something sturdy and it will be used over and over, she could even learn to read with it as she gets older. I would try a used book store or thrift store that way you can get her a whole bunch cheap; Half Price Books is a good store to check.

Oh, the brand for the Live Butterfly Graden is Insect Lore. You should be able to find it in the Toys and Games department on Amazon, or at many other stores online.

They have really cheap mp3 players. You could probably go to walmart.com or on amazon. I've seen some pretty cheap mp3 players at really awesome discounts at bargain room. com,or nomorerack.com too. Hope this helped

Do you live in the same area? You could take her to the zoo or an aquarium or something. That would be stimulating & special. Those kinds of places can be expensive, but most have student/ child discounts. I wonder if there is some place you could find a coupon ;) If not, make it a really cool book. Good luck Unc
