Q: What would be a great topic for a Page?

I've written 49 articles so far for the Pages section of DP and am trying to think of something particularly interesting for the 50th article.  I would greatly appreciate any suggestions.  Thanks!

No, I haven't. Do you mean "go green" as in ways to help the environment?

I think you should write one that includes marital or couple advice. You have a lot of expertise in that area and I don't think you have written a page about that topic, have you?

I could certainly write an article on ideas for keeping relationships healthy. That's a great idea! I greatly enjoy putting together these short articles but coming up with ideas get's a bit more difficult after a while. I am trying to keep them cogent to the mission of DP but I will write the relationship article either way.

How technology affects society. How we no longer have phone conversations but rely on texting. How we've lost a sense of direction to the technology of gps...

I like that barbie! It reminds me of Alvin Toffler's book from the 70s "Future Shock" about how technology would make people feel stressed and overwhelemed. I could certainly write that from the point of view of a psyc professor. Very cool!

I've been feeling overwhelmed trying to keep up with technology and many times find Myself feeling frustrated with others who have not resulting in this gap of having human connection. I'm going to have to purchase future shock, thanks for recommending. I am quite interested at this point as I certainly feel like my brain can't function due to "information overload".

"Cognitive load" is the term we use in social psychology to talk about how busy a person's head is. The more we have to think about and the more we have to attend to, the higher our cognitive load at the moment. When the load gets to high we start to do a lot of "automatic processing" where we make decisions without a lot of thought. Technology has put a lot of people into the position of having too much too think about at any one time so we end up not being able to give careful thought to important aspects of our lives.

actually, i think technology has made it TOO easy for people to make silly choices. Many are losing their imagination. Perhaps an article about how we depend TOO much on new technology as compared to 30 years ago.

I used Compuserve a lot. It was about .25 per minute so it could get expensive. I was in the computer industry and when a Compuserve rep came one day he gave me an unlimited account for free. That was a ton of fun back then!
