How Kobo Books Coupons Work

Their promo codes only work on certain eBook items. This is a direct quote from their Frequently Asked Questions page regarding How to use a promo code:

"To redeem a promo code:

1. Sign in to your Kobo account on the Kobo website (www.kobo.com).
   
2. Select the eBook you wish to purchase.
   
3. Click Buy Now to start your checkout process.
   
4. Click Use standard checkout.
   
   • Note: You can’t use a promo code unless you use the standard checkout option.
   
   
5. On the checkout page, click Have a gift card or promo code? Use it here.
   The gift card and promo code details will appear.
   
   • Note: If you only see Redeem Any Gift Cards, you can’t use a promo code for the eBook you’ve selected.
   
   
6. Enter your promo code and click Apply. The store will check your promo code to make sure it's still valid, and then adjust your order total to give you a discount.
   
7. Finish entering your payment information and complete your purchase."
