the leadership team. Cyriac Roeding, Co-founder and CEO. Cyriac caught his “mobile virus” by living in Tokyo in 1994, and by traveling the world observing mobile behavior, all the way to monks in Bhutan in the Himalayan Mountains. He created his first mobile startup in Europe in 1999 in five countries, then founded CBS’s mobile division in 2005 in Los Angeles, and led the team to Emmy nominations and profitability. In 2008, he joined Kleiner Perkins’s iFund in Silicon Valley as an EIR, where the idea for shopkick was born. Cyriac started his entrepreneurial endeavors as a paper boy turned software developer (he sold his first computer program to a newspaper publisher at 15), and as a radio host in Germany and Lithuania.
Jeff Sellinger, Co-founder and CPO. Jeff built the shopkick 1.0 product and now builds and runs the brands-side of the business. Before shopkick, he served as EVP & GM CBS Mobile, where he won two Emmys and the Global College Sports award for the 2009 CBS Sports NCAA March Madness On Demand iPhone app. Jeff was responsible for founding the new CBS Records, which re-launched in 2006. Prior to CBS, Jeff co-founded GoldPocket Wireless. In his career, Jeff has been responsible for building out over 50 products. Jeff’s always on the lookout for new sneakers to add to his rack, especially adidas. He is also a musician with a pretty nice guitar collection.
Aaron Emigh, Co-founder and CTO. Aaron spent much of his childhood without electricity, so naturally he “went pro” as an engineer when he was twelve. He was previously EVP/GM of Technology at Six Apart (now SAY Media), CTO of Rojo Networks, Managing Director of Radix Labs, and Founder/CEO of CommerceFlow (acquired by eBay). He has 75+ issued and pending patents that defy pithy summaries. He has battled cybercrime for the Department of Homeland Security and the Secret Service, and has written machine vision software for Martian robots. He has backpacked in 36 countries, collects ancient Greek coins and antiquarian books, and is under the impression that not updating his wardrobe since college qualifies as “retro.”
Doug Galen, CRO. Doug is leading the expansion of shopkick's Partner Alliance, a unique network of retail partnerships that helps drive revenue growth. He has 20+ years of experience building successful alliances, leading M&A and building small companies into big powerhouses... which include two successful IPOs at Shutterfly and E-LOAN where he was part of the executive leadership. Doug also worked at eBay where he was VP New Ventures. When Doug is not at the office you will likely find him on his bike climbing mountains, exploring new roads and riding to the Pacific Ocean. Doug also serves on the Board of Directors for the Positive Coaching Alliance, working to cultivate youth athletics around the country.
Evan Tana, VP Product Management. Evan leads the product management and design of the shopkick consumer experience. Before shopkick, Evan led product at Loopt, the first mobile social mapping service, and began his career as a product manager at Digital Chocolate, a publisher of mobile games and applications. In his free time, Evan is either traversing mountains on his road bike, backpacking around the Bay Area, or searching stores for new Patagonia gear. He dreams to one day combine those activities and bike the Pacific Crest Trail from Canada to Mexico, where he would likely run into Doug.
Mark Smallcombe, VP Engineering. Mark is responsible for the mobile product’s development & operation. Prior, he got his "kicks" as the VP of Product & Engineering at Will Ferrell's Funny Or Die, growing the business from its start to $30M in revenue and creating an international, consumer brand. Mark has built radiation monitoring systems, newspaper control systems, classified systems, editorial websites, city guides, IYPs and in his spare time collects citizenships. When not banging his head on door frames (being 6'10" tall) or forging the technological road at the office, you might catch him driving to Stanford Mall on the hunt for another good bargain.
Alexis Rask, VP and General Manager, Brand Partnerships. Alexis, together with Jeff, is building shopkick's newest business unit, where she looks to expand relationships with major brands. Before joining shopkick, Alexis was SVP of Sales Development at Federated Media and a founding member of LinkedIn's Marketing Solutions team and New York operations. Alexis also worked at Google where she specialized in selling Search Marketing campaigns. When Alexis isn't meeting with the world's leading brands, you'll find her shopping for them. She loves cooking and fashion and is always on the hunt for something new to wear, or planning a dinner party for fifty close friends. She's a native New Yorker bringing a touch of the East Coast to shopkick and the Valley.
the investors & Board members. Matt Murphy, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. Matt Murphy joined shopkick's Board in 2009 as part of Series A. Matt is a partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. He joined the firm in 1999 and leads the iFund, a collaborative initiative with Apple that focuses on funding and building defining applications on the iOS platform and the mobile internet. Matt’s expertise is in mobile and cloud infrastructure technology. He was also the lead KP partner when Cyriac incubated shopkick as an EIR in Kleiner Perkins's offices in 2008 and 2009. Matt was a Board observer at Google from KP's initial investment to IPO.
Reid Hoffman, Greylock Partners. Reid Hoffman joined shopkick's Board in 2009 as a private angel investor in Series A, and then led Series B for Greylock in 2010. Reid is a partner at Greylock, and Co-Founder and Executive Chairman at LinkedIn. His areas of focus include consumer Internet, enterprise 2.0, mobile, social gaming, online marketplaces, payments, and social networks. Reid works on products that can reach hundreds of millions of participants and businesses based on network effects. Reid is also an investor in Facebook, Zynga, Groupon, Airbnb and many other companies.
Andy Mooney, formerly Disney Consumer Products. Andy joined shopkick's Board in 2012. Most recently, Andy was Chairman of Disney Consumer Products (DCP) overseeing Disney's worldwide $32B licensing, publishing and retail businesses. He created two of Disney’s largest franchises, Disney Princess and Fairies with retail sales of $6b. Prior, Andy was with Nike. As Nike's CMO, Andy collaborated with Weiden & Kennedy to develop the iconic advertisng campaign ‘Just Do It’. Andy also led Nike's $3b global apparel business. He is an avid collector and player of vintage electric guitars.
