Gadget Update ~ New & Interesting

30
I am a huge fan of gadgets.  I have all sorts of electronic gadgets in a cabinet at home with many of them sorted into a plastic five drawer container within the cabinet.  I've bought gadgets, such as an ultrasonic measuring device, that I have no need for but I just had to have one.  Others, such as my infrared thermometer, gets occasional use but, again, I bought it mostly because it was very new at the time and I just had to have one.  I enjoy sifting through gadget sites to see what's new out there and am presenting the results of my most recent hunt which I happened to be this evening (well, it's 3am here so morning).

Stil looking for an actual tricorder

Q2 WiFi Radio: $120 A buttonless radio with a very cool form factor.  No buttons, dials, or display.  You tune it by rotating it onto any of it's four sides.  Available in several colors.  You can learn more about it here

Recharge Battery Mug: $16  Image on the side of the mug, in the form of a battery, interacts with hot water to show it "charging" or "discharging." Not a terribly useful gadget but the amusement factor is there.  You can find it here.

Twine: $99  Twine is a little device that lets an appliance notify you that your a/c is on the fritz or your fridge is getting too warm, etc.  Again, the cool factor might exceed the actual utility but this is a very cool gadget!  It will make more sense if you read the details yourself,  which you can find here.

Onion Goggles:  $25   Now, these are actually useful.  Every time I make a batch of chili I look like I am in the throes of Major Depressive Disorder.  They are even kinda cool looking.  Learn more about them here.

Nest Thermostat:  $249   Yeah, kinda pricey.  But after about a week of using this somewhat futuristic looking thermostat it starts handling things on it's own.  It learns your patterns and adjusts the thermostat accordingly.  If can even tell if your are not around and then it steals all of your stuff.  Learn more about this expensive gizmo-thingie here.

Audio Cube Bluetooth Speaker:  $45  This would be great for getting a little more sound out of my HTC EVO 4G, especially in the car.  I like the looks of it and it seems like a great idea.  The price is actually very reasonable for what it can do.  This gadget just made it onto my "I gotta have this" list.  Where can you learn more?  Glad you asked, just look over here.

LED Construction Brick Brites$10  These will look great on your desk.  They light up and flash exactly what any self-respecting gadget should do. These are even motion-activated.  Learn more about these little goodies here.

Digitless Clock:  $190  This clock verbalizes what time it is and, on the display, indicates the time by using a sentence such as, "25 minutes past five p.m."  Is that cool or what?  Kinda expensive, I know.  Learn more about this wallet-deflating device here.

I hope you've enjoyed this roundup of some of the latest and most interesting gadgets.  Oh, in case you've just got to have them all (and who doesn't?) I've calculated that you will need to part with  $759 worth of your checking account.  Not bad, huh?
