Hidden Gems In Store Are Still Possible

30
Before the Internet in store shopping was the most popular and in some cases the only way to purchase most items. I remember my Mom would drag all six of us kids out every week to grocery shop or when one of us needed shoes or pants a quick trip to Sears turned into hours of boredom for us as my Mom enjoyed the search for a good bargain even if that meant going to every store in the mall to find it.

Forward some years later I find myself bargain shopping in store still just like my Mom did. I look everywhere and no corner goes untouched. The Internet has changed the way we shop in every way. So many bargains to see, but that is the thing we can only see it. Feeling those sheets we think will provide us a good night sleep or trying on those funky shoes are now a wait and see and hope for the best when they arrive.

Being a kid of a in store bargain shopper made me learn quick, if I didn't cooperate and behave my day would never end. Kids today are so different! How many times have you seen kids misbehaving or maybe your own driving you crazy while in a store shopping? If I could behave, these kids of today can too is all I think when I go out and see a kid acting up. I then contemplate, maybe all of our online shopping while the kids are playing video games or whatever they enjoy doing has spoiled them a little, sometimes you have to do things you don't like or enjoy. I hated our trips to the mall when I was a kid, but I did it and lived to tell about it.

Getting to the point. As much as I love DP and all of the online deals. I really enjoy a trip into an actual store. My favorite stores for deals are the discount or close out stores. So many odd finds at great prices. Not always the best quality in some items, but mostly brand names in perfect condition that are discontinued or last years models is usually the norm. It all depends and that is what so great about it.

I am so lucky to have a few stores in my area like this and have found some of the best deals while shopping in them. Target, Macy's, Walmart & Home Depot are all great stores for many different reasons, but let's not forget those discount/over-stock stores most of the items in them may at one time been sold at one of the above named stores. Who cares if you get last years model of a wrench or sheet set.

I have uploaded a picture of a item I bought at a local discount store. A sugar shaker which I had been searching for and could not find for a reasonable price. Bed Bath & Beyond had a sugar holder for $7.99. I refused to pay almost $8 so I held out. Luckily a trip into a local store saved me $7.87. A sugar shaker for 12 cents. Just as good as the one at Bed Bath & Beyond and a lot less money.

Saving money online is something we all do here at DP, but let's not forget in store shopping as an option of saving a few dollars and then spreading the word to others. So check out all of those local stores in your area you drive by they may have some hidden gems.

I love your Page!

Personally i prefer shopping in store. Yes i have a 3 year old in tow, but he knows he will get a prize at the end of the trip if he behaves (.50 cent lollipop).

I find when i order online, typically it needs to be returned. Doesn't fit, doesn't look good, or bad quality.

I usually find prices cheaper in store as well, plus no shipping costs.

As far as children's behavior...it's funny because someone was telling me about there being a behavioral management teacher at a local school, my response was...we used to call that the belt...l.o.l.
Back in the day, discipline was more accepted, now if you say or do anything wrong in public, someone will call the police. I'm not refering to abuse, simple discipline. When my 4 older children were little, all i had to do was snap the belt (not use it) To get their attention...thankfully it worked.
