It pays (or saves) to compare online vs. in store prices

I needed a new roll away tool chest.  Drawers stopped working on mine a long time ago.  So, with a birthday coming up, my bride agreed to buy me one.  Bless he heart, she was late coming home from work yesterday because she went shopping at Lowes, Home Depot, Northern Tool and Sears.  She was lost.  So I got on line and found the following.    http://www.sears.com/craftsman-26inch-wide-5-drawer-heavy-duty-ball/p-00962024000P?prdNo=2&blockNo=2&blockType=G2     This is a top chest sold by Sears. The original price was 269.  The sales price on the Sears website was 144.  It went with the following: http://www.sears.com/craftsman-26inch-wide-5-drawer-heavy-duty-ball/p-00962023000P?prdNo=1&blockNo=1&blockType=G1 The original price on this one was 329.  The online price was 154.  What I liked about this bottom was that the drawer rating is 75#, where most are 25 or 50.  In my experience, the thing that wears out in a box is the drawers due to over loading.  So, my thinking...the higher the rating the better.   To the point.  When we went to Sears to buy one, the sales prices didn't apply.  They had the set marked individually for full retail, r you could buy the 2 together for about a 50 dollar savings.  Unfortunately (for them) they had a computer kiosk 20 feet from the register where we could bring up the item and they had to either sell it to us at the online price or watch us order it at the online price from inside their store.  Which they did.
