My favorite everyday uses for Baking Soda

1) Make produce spray

Many of our foods are infested with pesticides. You have the option to buy organic, but the cost to go organic is exorbitant.
This is an alternative recommended by Dr. Oz

Here are some foods that are very high in pesticide residue:

-Broccoli

Celery

-Strawberries

-Blueberries

-Spinach

Recipe for Produce Spray (from Dr. Oz)

Ingredients
1 cup of water
1 cup of distilled vinegar
1 tablespoon of baking soda ½ of a lemon
Combine all ingredients in a large container.
Transfer to a spray bottle with a pump.
Spray mixture on produce and let it sit for 5 minutes.
Scrub and rinse.

2) Give my dog a dry bath

I wish I can give my dog a bath every week, but I’ve been told that it is not good to do that. Here is what I do:

Sprinkle some baking soda on my dog.
Wet a paper towel and wipe him down

This is a great way to keep your pet clean and smelling fresh.

Its the cheapest way to clean your stainless steel cookware as well. We have a large Cuisanart set that is about 3 years old and looks brand new because we regularly clean it with baking soda and vinegar. Any spots or burn marks just make a thick paste out of the baking soda and rub em away easily. Works great.

Also vinegar works better for cleaning fruits and vegetables. Reduces salmonella, removes wax, etc.

Can be used if your out of toothpaste for everyday use. Just make a paste & brush.

It's a good alternative to whiten your teeth with too.. And put a box in a fridge to absorb odor :)

Best stuff for heartburn too. I wouldnt use it for a toothpaste on a regular basis. A little too rough on your enamel but occasionally is fine. The biggest problem is it leaves your breath smelling worse so you better follow with some mouthwash

deby the taste doesn't bother me & it will take off those coffee stains. I agree with the heartburn though I can remember my grandmother using it.

i dont get heartburn from anything but soy based foods and when I do its pretty bad. this is all I use as i dont keep any meds for heartburn around because its so infrequent that i get it. So a teaspoon or 2 in a small juice glass of water does the trick
