Owning a Dog May Help Improve the Quality of your LIFE
|
How does owning a dog improve one's life?
Research has proved that owning a dog can help improve the quality of your life. There are therapy dogs that help people cope with mental illnesses. Dogs that help lead the blind, dogs that herd the farm, dogs that guard the home etc....
Sure, many may think that it's a load of work and there is not enough time to care for a dog. After having one for two years now, I can honestly say she's the best little girl I will ever know.
Let's begin with how Chloe makes MY life BETTER:
![]() Keeps my Health in Check: Walking her isn't just for her own good but for mine as well. It keeps me outdoors breathing the fresh air and also contributes to my exercise routine. After being at work for 8 hours in an office, it's nice to walk to wind down after a long day.
An evening out with Chloe keeps my heart pumping and blood flowing = Good Cardio.
Great Companion: I can always count on her to be at the door to greet me with her tail wagging and her happy face on. She is a loyal companion who teaches me to appreciate life. There will never be a time when she is spiteful or vindictive as the human race can be. Even dogs enjoy a blockbuster night every now and then. She is forever loving- morning, evening & night :)
Keeps me grounded: The thing with dogs (or animals) in general is that they don't need much to be happy. Give them food, water, shelter, love and they are set for life. They don't need the fancy collar from Juicy Couture or the orthopedic foam bed. They won't even know the difference! This is where she keeps me grounded in reminding me the want vs. need. Do I really need that expensive handbag or is my money better off spent on something I will need?
I have seen many DP users on here who are also pet owners. I hope you feel the same way :) |

My sister recently adopted a Shihtzu/Chihuahua mix. She's not as fuzzy as Chloe but still incredibly cute! http://i49.tinypic.com/v41biq.jpg There's a blurry pic. She was almost euthanized in South Carolina :( |

Our handsome greyhound who would just had to put down 1000% made our quality of life a whole lot better. He was such a well behaved dog and could see in his eyes how happy and grateful he was that we adopted him. Our Dodge made sure he would go for his walk everyday or he would start to get a bit wild and make the funniest barking/whine sounds. He really brought so much happiness to us, we can only hope we did the same for him. :-) |

| I absolutely adore my pup Emmie.. We rescued her from a high-kill shelter. A day after we brought her home, her veterinarian diagnosed her with parvovirus and she had to be hospitalized for five days on IV fluids. The doc said it would be a 50/50 shot of her making it, and to prepare for the worst.. BUT she pulled through and is the love of my life! :) |

| Awww what a cutie!! I miss my dog and as soon as we move we are thinking of getting one. Besides kids need dogs to play with as they grow! Its a valuable lesson with care and then when they sadly also die. But they will always remember them and it will impact their little lives :) |
