Target Department Store Markdown Schedule And End-Cap Clearance Goodies
|
In the late 90s I was quite the clearance shopper & eBay reseller. Several times a week I went to Target, Staples, Radio Shack, and a few other stores that had clearance areas. My goal was to find merchandise marked down so much that I could make a profit on eBay. And I did. Now, this was a lot easier 10 years ago when eBay wasn't quiet the war-torn geography that is is now. So, I was able to make about $200 a week, after expenses, with my clearance shopping. It took less time than you would think and there was something about hunting down the bargains that I truly enjoyed.
Target was always a favorite because not only did they (and most stores still do) reliably put their clearance stuff on the end-caps at the rear of the store, they had a system for markdowns that it made easy to know what day to search for particular categories of product. I recently did some research online to find the mark-down schedule for Target and here is what I believe is their current schedule: Monday Markdowns: Kids' Clothing, Stationery (office supplies, gift wrap), Electronics Tuesday Markdowns: Women's Clothing and Domestics Wednesday Markdowns: Men's Clothing, Toys, Health and Beauty Thursday Markdowns: Lingerie, Shoes, Housewares Friday Markdowns: Cosmetics, Housewares, Automotives Items will continually get marked down so if you think something is not quite low enough, check the following week. I've been told that eventually, unsold merchandise is shipped off to Goodwill or similar non-profit stores. You can still resell items on eBay or Craigslist if you find really great deals though I don't do that anymore (I now have two side businesses working on home/small office computers and also programming analog/digital scanners for radio enthusiasts). Next time you are at Target, check out those clearance end-caps and take a look at the day of the week and go search that department for some marked-down goodies! ![]() |

| Hi erick99, you always have such great comments! I have been strategically buying kids clothes in the next sizes up with the intents to sell it at a profit. If it falls through, my kids will fit the clothes and I save money anyways. I want to try selling on Craigslist first and I was wondering if you have tips on how to sell kids' clothes on Craigslist, or what types of items have sold best for you in the past? Thanks :) |

| Nice article! I have always been a discount shopper and will never pay full price for anything if I have to. I especially love great clothing deals, I don't think I have paid over $10 for a pair of jeans in the past 20 years. I used to buy a lot of things from Amazon through there subscribe and save program but Amazon has gotten bad about raising there prices on there subscribe and save deals and now they have cut a lot of them to only giving you a 5% savings instead of the standard 15% savings on everything. I don't have a Target store in my city, the closest one is about 75 miles away, but I try to go there every couple months and have noticed they do have really great clearance deals! |

| Encorez, I notice the heater on sales too, I need one for the next winter but I am out of town rite now and will only be back in June. I don't find the offer online (only in store). I hope they are not gone by the time I return. |
