Happy Penguin Appreciation Day - January 20!

You may not give much thought to the noble penguin, but today we give serious consideration to our tuxedo-wearing friends who waddle around in the southern hemisphere. Did you know penguins mate for life? Or that the word penguin means 'fat winged' one in Portuguese? Or that, contrary to popular belief, penguins are not natural tap dancers? You learn something new every day.

Did you know one breed is blue (Eudyptula minor) ? (and not because they are cold)!

I have to tell my friend about this. She's been so in love with penguins ever since we went into an Aquarium on vacation and she saw them. :) Thanks for sharing this. I never knew there was a penguin appreciation day...although there seems to be a day for just about everything now-a-days.
