What Duct Tape Has Been Used For
Duct tape has to be one of the greatest inventions of the past 100 years. It seems that you can do almost anything with duct tape. I was curious about what duct tape had been used for that might surprise even the most die-hard users of the adhesive tape and here is what I found.
Patch A Spacecraft - The Apollo 13 crew used it in 1970 to retrofit square carbon dioxide filters into round lunar module receptacles. The down-to-the-wire duct tape solution saved three astronautsâ lives.
Patch An Airplane - Legend has it that after a bear destroyed a fishermanâÂÂs plane in the Alaska bush, the pilot radioed a buddy to fly him two tires, sheet plastic, and three cases of duct tape. Using these items, the pilot fixed the plane and flew it home. I remember watching the episode of where they really did make a plane out of duct tape.
Patch A Wound - I'm sure duct tape has been used for medical measures many of times but I still wanted to include this one.
Prevent Frostbite - Alaskan snowmobilers apply duct tape to their faces to keep them from freezing during the February Iron Dog. Peeling that off has got to be hell.
Make A Server - This case was made entirely of duct tape.
Make Shoes - This is pretty cool and probably took some time given all the curves and turns of shoes.
Make Pants - Not sure how you wash these but maybe you just wipe them down.
Crack Cover - No kidding.
Make A Boat That Almost Worked - It still counts.
Diaper - Again, taking this off could not have been fun. Hopefully the beer can was a joke.
Poor Man's Hammock - It looks like it works though I wonder for how long.
Car Lifter/Crane - I think this one is my favorite.

S & M? 8-|
Lemme tell ya a little story. When I was separating from the Air Force, the guys I worked with caught me and duct taped my happy butt to a chair wearing nothing but shorts and a t-shirt. Then they put me on display outside of the shop for anybody passing by to see. Then they dumped all kindsa crap on me while the base cops drove by and offered them their milk shakes to dump on me. I'm talking everything from cooler water to mustard and ketchup. The worst part about it? Pulling the frillin duct tape off of my hairy legs. Anybody who uses this stuff for satisfaction needs counseling. :-)
