Thank you for your cooperation, good luck to you and don’t forget to mark your calendars for 6:00 p.m. (Central Time), Sunday, December 11th.

A $50 android tablet that is absolutely terrible. Yes, the HP operating system may not be the best, but there are still apps available. And many people have installed android on their touchpad.

I've seen a plethora of positive reviews from people that purchased it at the firesale.

It looks like WebOS will have a better advocate and better care once HP makes it open source. This is GREAT news!

WebOS is dead. Why would it get any support ? Android and Linux are the dominant players. Apple is closed so is Windows. So which gap is WebOS filling up ? Granted, user interface is slicker but then u can incorporate the user interface into another platform if u want...

My brother and his wife picked two of these up at the $99 earlier this year. They have loaded it with Android, so there is a BOATLOAD of apps available. I think HP has continued to make their app store available for some time though.

Sounds like someone is still mad they missed out on the original Fire Sale (;_;).

There are plenty of apps even leaving it as WebOS. The websurfing and graphic capabilities alone make it worthwhile.

$50 Android tablet... **SHUDDER**

I LOVE my HP Touchpad. I loaded CM7 (Android) on it, overclocked it to 1.7Ghz, and it's a great device for watching movies, playing games, reading RSS news feeds, and browsing the Internet. I have the 32GB HP Touchpad, a Toshiba Thrive, and a Kindle Fire. I'm considering picking up another if I can get it for $99. I'm going out of the country and it'd be nice to have a relatively inexpensive Android device I can use.

*** Note ***

Some owners have noticed cracks in the plastic near the speakers of HP Touchpads. I sent mine back for repair/replacement since it was still under warranty. In my opinion, it's still worth getting because the device is designed well (button placement, battery life, features) and adding Android gives it support from the Android community.

It's pretty easy to do. Here's the official site:

http://rootzwiki.com/topic/10121-releasealpha35cyanogenmod-touchpad/

They just released Alpha 3.5, but we're expecting a new release pretty soon. It's easy to upgrade if you want to install this one now and another release later. It won't remove HP WebOS, but it will make Android the default OS to load when you power it on.

I had two orders with different companies during the original fire sale. One of my orders got processed, but now I have a Touchpad and two Touchpad cases. I need to buy another TP to go with my other case. :-D

The eBay price for these is roughly double the fire sale price. Used ones are selling for about $100 more than the $99 and $149 price.

You can also overclock on the WebOS side. Whether you decide to use WebOS or Android, you should check out a great game called 'Tanked.' It's an online multiplayer first person tank game. The developer created WebOS, Android, and iPhone apps for the game.
